Helping site visitors find your event brochure pages is easy as drag and drop with the new site builder. Calendar pages are fully customizable, making it easy to connect your audience with your outreach. This article will discuss the following topics:
Public Calendar
Connect your visitors with your events by embedding your calendars on your public site. Available as either a monthly calendar or lists that can be filtered, these calendar elements are a powerful tool for outreach!
To add calendar elements to your public site, from the Admin Console, visit Settings > Site Builder. Next, follow these steps:
- Either create a new page or open an existing page to edit.
- From the Engage category on the right side, drag either the "Full Calendar" or "Calendar List" block over to the page. These blocks can be placed next to other blocks, such as image and text, to style pages dynamically.
- Save and publish the page to have it appear on the public site.
Note: To embed calendars, the site must also be using the site builder format. See The Site Builder for Terra Dotta Study Abroad for more information on using the site builder.
Calendar View
The "Full Calendar" block creates a traditional calendar format, showing a monthly view of events that can be scrolled forward and back. In the below screenshot, a Basic > 1 Column block containing a Pre-Built > Hero block has been used to add header image above the calendar block. Note: In the Site Builder, the block will not populate any events, but once activated on the public site any public events will appear.
Once saved and activated, the new calendar page shows all events that have been marked as public from step 3 of the event creation.
List View
The "Calendar List" block creates a list of events, defaulting to a monthly list of all public events that can be scrolled forward and back. In the below screenshot, a Basic > 1 Column block containing a Pre-Built > Hero block has been used to add header image to the left of the the calendar list block. Note: In the Site Builder, the block will show the message "No events to display", but once activated on the public site any events that fit within the settings set for the block will appear.
Double clicking on a Calendar List block opens a menu of options for filtering which events show in this block, including by linked programs, tags on events, and whether the list shows by week, month, or year. Click Apply Filters to save the preferences for the block.
Once saved and activated, the new calendar page shows all events that have been marked as public from step 3 of the event creation.
Multiple event blocks can be used on a single page, making it easy to connect site visitors with upcoming events! In the example below text blocks have been used to include valuable information about each event list.
Internal Calendar
An internal administrator-only view of the calendar is available from Engage > Events. This includes public events, non-public events, and canceled events (marked with strikethrough text). On this page, filter using keywords, program name, or event tags to find your event.
You can also create a new event by either clicking the "Create New Event" button or click on a day on the calendar. (To learn more about creating events, visit Engage: Creating Events.)
