Question:
I am logged into RTI Connect, and I need to know if there are any tasks I shouldn't do while I am logged in?
Answer:
If a user is logged in to SEVIS via RTI Connect, this "counts" as being logged into SEVIS. That said, if the user is logged in to SEVIS via RTI Connect, they should not be logged in to SEVIS - either directly or via RTI Connect - in any other tab, window, or computer. This can cause unexpected behavior.
Being logged in to SEVIS via RTI Connect also includes downloading lists from RTI Connect. During the list download, the user's SEVIS username is considered in use, so that user should not do any other work in RTI Connect or SEVIS until the list download completes. If it is necessary to download a list that will take some time to complete, the user downloading the list should ensure that they do not need to do any other work in SEVIS or RTI Connect for the foreseeable working hours, until the download is finished. If any other SEVIS-based works need to be done during that time, or an emergency comes up that necessitates this, the user should either cancel the list download so that they can do this work, or as a fellow DSO/ARO to do the work in SEVIS.
