This article contains updated information based on the Terra Dotta Study Abroad 22.2 Release upgrade to sandbox sites which was completed on June 15, 2022. Stay tuned for the release to production sites, scheduled for early July 2022.
The Navigation Menu for Terra Dotta Study Abroad offers a structured home base from which administrators and applicants can easily access site features. This article covers the following topics related to the Navigation Menu:
Menu Access: Administrators
The Navigation Menu appears on sites that have the Applicant Experience enabled. Both administrators and applicants have access to their respective menus.
Administrators
From the Admin Console, the Navigation Menu will appear as an independent pane to the left of the Console. Not seeing it yet? Click the triple line "hamburger" menu to the left of your main console bar for the pane to appear.
The menu, when set to display full text, is organized from top to bottom as follows:
Search Bar
Use this feature to quickly access applications, programs, and navigation tools (i.e. items located in the classic admin menus). To change the current search setting, click the icon in the search bar.
A default setting can also be configured under Admin Settings > Default Quick Search.
This feature uses a keyword search.
Menu Links
When all possible menu links are displayed, they will appear to an admin as follows:
-
Applicant
- Directs admin to their applicant home page.
-
Administrative
- Return to the classic admin home page.
-

- Return to this main administrative page.
-

- Appears when admin has at least one pending or submitted review via the Reviewers Management system.
-

- If a site has all public links set to inactive, then this "Public Site" option will not display in the menu.
It is not possible to change the order of the main menu links.
When a menu link is expanded, it remains fully open until the admin either navigates to a feature or closes the link. In this way, it is possible to expand multiple menus at one time.
Add-on subscription services from Terra Dotta, such as AlertTraveler®, will display as a menu link and expand with options as applicable. However, the Navigation Menu is not currently accessible from these pages. The "home" icon should be used to return to the Admin Console at this time.
It is possible to click on a menu item and open it in a new tab using the following controls:
- Middle-Click (or hold CTRL + Click)
- For Mac Users: Right-Click (or Command + Click)
The Navigation Menu is always set to be static, thus remaining visible to the user when scrolling a page.
Applicants
When an applicant is on "Applicant Home", the Navigation Menu will appear as an independent pane to the left of this page.
The menu, when set to display full text, is organized from top to bottom as follows:

The Navigation Menu
As part of the Terra Dotta Study Abroad 22.2 Release upgrade to client sandbox sites, the following updates to the Navigation Menu have been added (in sandbox sites only).
My Appointments
The "My Appointments" section of the Admin Console's Navigation Menu will only appear to a logged-in staff member when they have a public staff member page. From this "My Appointments" menu, an admin will be able to access the Appointment Scheduler which is used to manage availability and view appointments. Note that a staff page must be published in order for it to be public-facing and appear to site users.
