Overview
This article reviews the process to complete SEVIS Transfer-In action for F-1 Student records with RTI Connect. There are three ways to transfer in a student in RTI Connect:
- Scenario 1: If the Student does not have a TD Profile
- Scenario 2: If the Student does have a TD Profile
- Scenario 3: Downloading the Transfer In List and Process the Transfer at a later date
Scenario 1: If the Student does not have a TD Profile
Create the I-20
If the student does not have a profile already created in Terra Dotta, the steps to transfer the student in is as follows:
Navigate to the RTI tab in the SEVIS Admin and launch the embedded browser (RTI Connect)
Navigate to the record you wish to transfer in. When transferring in an F record, click Create I-20 and create the I-20 as you normally would.
After completing the I-20, navigate to the SEVIS Profile. You will be prompted to select which campus site the student belongs to.
Scenario 2: Student does have a TD Profile
Add student's SEVIS ID to their Terra Dotta Profile
If the student does have a profile already created in Terra Dotta, the steps to transfer the student in is as follows:
Add the student's SEVIS ID to their Terra Dotta Profile. The SEVIS ID can be found in RTI Connect when looking up the SEVIS record of the student that you are transferring in. Note: failure to make these updates could result in the inadvertent creation of a duplicate profile for the student.
Create the I-20 in RTI Connect
Navigate to the RTI tab in the SEVIS Admin and launch the embedded browser (RTI Connect)
Navigate to the record you wish to transfer in. When transferring in an F record, click Create I-20 and create the I-20 as you normally would.
A dialogue box will display after you submit the information. Select the Academic Objective record for the student.
After completing the I-20, navigate to the SEVIS Profile. You will be prompted to select which campus site the student belongs to.
Scenario 3: Downloading the Transfer In List and Process the Transfer at a later date
Download the Record from RTI Connect
Navigate to the RTI tab in the SEVIS Admin and launch the embedded browser (RTI Connect)
Navigate to the record you wish to transfer in from the transfer in list and download, this can be done on an individual record or for multiple transfer in records.
Navigate to Downloaded RTI List and Update Record
Once the record(s) has been downloaded from RTI Connect, navigate to the downloaded list and select the student you want to create the record for. After selecting the student, click on the Update record button located in the upper left corner above the list of students.
Once the record has been updated, navigate to the SEVIS Profile, and complete any additional information that SEVIS Admin may request.
Create the I-20 in RTI Connect
Navigate to the RTI tab in the SEVIS Admin and launch the embedded browser (RTI Connect)
Navigate to the record you wish to transfer in. When transferring in an F record, click Create I-20 and create the I-20 as you normally would.
A dialogue box will display after you submit the information. Select the Academic Objective record for the student.
