The Image Library tool enables you to manage images that you can link to using any of the WYSIWYG Editor located in ISSS Student.
To access this tool, go to Configuration > Site Pages then select the last tab of Image Library.
Uploading a New Image
Before uploading a new image to the Image Library, it is recommended that you re-size the image to the desired size. This is because photo editing software usually provides betterresizing results in terms of image clarity.
To upload a new image, click the 'New Image' tab located at the top of the screen.
Browse for the name of the image file by clicking the 'Choose File’ button.
Enter a brief description of the image in the 'Description' text box. Select a folder where you want to store the image from the 'Folder' drop-down list box. The default option is for all images to be saved in the 'Uncategorized’ folder.
You can also select the maximum width or height of the picture, this must be configured by pixels. You have several rotation options:
- You can constrain the size of the image by choosing the maximum numbers of pixels
- Rotate the image 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise
- Prevent a thumbnail image from being generated by clicking 'Override server-side image reprocessing.’
Lastly, select the quality level desired and whether to also server-side image reprocessing.
Editing an Existing Image
To edit an existing image, click the 'Pencil’ button located in the Actions column to the right of the image that you want to edit. From here, you can upload a new image, edit the description, and formating of the image. Click 'Save' to save the image.
Note: If you upload a new image, the original image is overwritten.
Managing Image Folders
To edit an image folder, click the 'Manage Folders’ tab located at the top of the screen. A page opens with the existing folder details.
To edit the name of the folder, click the 'pencil icon' to the right of the folder name. Change the name of the folder and click 'Update.'
To delete a folder, click the red 'X’ to the right of the folder name. If a padlock icon appears, the folder cannot be deleted, because the folder has images in it. Remove the images, and then the folder can be deleted.
To change the order of the folders, edit the numbers to the left of the folder names, and click the 'Re-order’ button.
To create a new folder, click the 'New Folders’ tab at the top of the page. Enter the folder name and click 'Save.’ The new folder will be added to the list.
Organizing Images in Folders
To reorganize images into folders, select the checkbox adjacent to the image. Select the name of the folder from the 'Move marked to' drop-down list box at the top-right corner of the screen. The images are moved to the specified folder. If an image has been uploaded and not specifically assigned to a folder, it will be in the 'Uncategorized’ folder.
To delete any image from the image library, click 'X' located in the Actions column to the right of the image that you want to delete. A dialog box appears asking you to confirm your action. Click 'OK' to proceed or 'Cancel' to ignore the action.
