Overview

This KB article provides an overview of manually creating a new J-1 student profile that is not integrated in ISSS Student.

Navigating to Create J-1 Student

To get started, navigate to the Student List. Generate a new J-1 student by clicking on the + Create Student button in the upper left corner and selecting J-1 Student from the dropdown menu. Note: The required student’s information will need to be inputted in one sitting, there is currently no functionality to save the information to return to at a later time. 

You will then need to complete the following sections:

• Profile Information
• Program Information
• Funding Information
• Site of Activity
• Dependent Information

Anything with an * in the field is required in order to create a student. 

Student Templates can be used to populate fields with pre-configured information by clicking on the Apply J-1 Templates located in the upper right corner of the page. For more information on creating templates check out this KB article.

Site of Activity

If the J-1 student has multiple sites of activity, click on the plus button in the lower right corner of the site of activity section. This will create another section with the information below:

• Site Name*
• Address
• Primary Site (Yes/No)
• Remarks
• Site of Activity Address Override Code
• Site of Activity Address Override Remarks

Dependent Information

If the J-1 student has multiple dependents, click on the plus button in the lower right corner of the dependent section. This will create another section with the information below:

• First Name
• Last Name
• Suffix
• Email
• Date of Birth
• Gender
• Relationship to Principal
• Birth City
• Country of Birth
• Country of Citizenship
• Country of Permanent Residence

Once the information has been completed, click on the Create button in the lower right-hand corner to save.
