Overview
This KB reviews the process of completing the Admin Only Action of Canc. These actions are only for ISSS Admin to see and each action contains a specific SEVIS Action. This will show in the Completed Card on the Request Tab as well as in the History Log for each student.
In the header of a J-1 Student’s record, we will see a SEVIS Actions button with a drop-down menu. The dropdown will contain: Amend Program, Cancel, Shorten Program, and Terminate.
Amend Program
Similar to the deferral for an F-1 student, the Amend Program action is used to update the Program Begin/End dates of an Initial J-1 SEVIS Record. Once the student has been validated, this is no longer an option. Possible reasons to Amend a program dates include:
- The program dates change slightly - SEVIS data integrity. The program dates in SEVIS should match the actual program participation dates of the exchange visitor's program.
- Program duration limits. You may get information that suggests the student needs to shorten the duration of time of this program as it will exceed the total duration allowed.
- Student is deferring attendance due to Covid-19
Step 1:
When Amend Program is selected from the SEVIS Actions button on the EV’s profile page, the ISSS Admin is directed to the EV’s SEVIS record, on the Amend Program screen from the SEVIS Actions menu.
Step 2:
Enters the needed information and selects to Amend Program.
Step 3:
The Amend Program action is reflected in the Completed Requests card on the EV’s Request tab.
The Amend Program action is also reflected in the student’s History Log.
