Overview
This KB reviews the process of completing the Admin Only Action of Cancel. These actions are only for ISSS Admin to see and each action contains a specific SEVIS Action. This will show in the Completed Card on the Request Tab as well as in the History Log for each student.
In the header of an F-1 Student’s record, we will see a SEVIS Actions button with a drop-down menu. The dropdown will contain: Cancel, Complete Program, Defer Attendance, Shorten Program, and Terminate.
Cancel
Invited, Pre-Arrival, Check-in Stage.
This action is taken in SEVIS when a student’s record is in Initial SEVIS status and needs to be canceled. This can be done if the record was created in error, the student told you they were not attending (or the school otherwise knows the student will not be using the I-20 created for them.) SEVIS will automatically cancel Initial Records for the reason of ‘No-Show’ 60 days after the program start date (if there is no Port of Entry information in the record).
Step 1:
Within the student record, if Cancel is selected, the ISSS Admin will be directed to the Student’s SEVIS record and select Cancel from the SEVIS Actions menu.
Step 2:
ISSS admin will need to complete the SEVIS form. The SEVIS drop-down menu includes the options:
- 01 - Student not attending
- 02 - Visa issued for different SEVIS ID
- 03 - Student registered under different SEVIS ID
- 04 - Student arrived under different SEVIS ID
- 05 - Record created in error
- 06 - Offer withdrawn
Step 3:
Once the student record was canceled, the Action will appear within the student Requests tab:
And the Action will also appear within the History Log:
