Overview
This KB article will provide an overview of the End Process for an H-1B Scholar.
ISSS Admins are able to end the program for an H-1B for two reasons, “Portability” and “End Program.”
- Portability: allows an employed H-1B worker to enter into employment with a new employer and preserves the legal status of an H-1B nonimmigrant.
- End Program: this option can be used if the Scholar has decided to leave early or the program has come to an end for any reason other than moving to a new employer.
Step 1: Navigate to Scholar's Profile and Select End H-1B
To begin the End Program process for an H-1B Scholar, click into the H-1B scholar’s card. Once in the profile, the ISSS Admin will see the option “End H-1B” in the series of buttons along the upper right corner of the screen. Click the “End H-1B” button to initiate the end process for the H-1B Scholar
Step 2: Select Reason for Ending Program
This will present a pop-up where the ISSS Admin may select the reason for ending the H-1B and any comments. Both the reason and comment are required in order to end an H-1B.
Once both fields have been completed, click the submit button. Once submitted, the Scholar’s card will move from Active Records to Inactive.
