Getting Started
To begin, start by locating the H-1B scholar that you would like to make an extension for by going to the Scholar Admin Dashboard. A card with an orange warning sign is a card where the H-1B visa is coming to an end and is eligible for an extension. Hovering over the warning sign will display how many days are left until the end of the visa status. The warning sign will only apply if the ISSS Admin has set up H-1B expiration configurations in Scholar Admin > Site Settings > H-1B Request Settings.
The ISSS Admin can also access H-1B Scholars eligible for an extension by going to the Scholar Dashboard and clicking into the Alerts tab. From there, click into Alerts > Active Scholars Eligible for an Extension.
A list of Scholar cards that are eligible for an extension will appear.
ISSS Admin - H-1B Extension
Step 1: Click the H-1B Extension Button
Once in the Scholar’s H-1B profile, you will see in the bottom dashboard a series of buttons. To initiate an H-1B Extension, click on the H-1B Extension button located in the bottom right.
Step 2: Fill in Information in the new H-1B Extension Profile
This will direct you to a new H-1B Extension card, which some of the values of the Scholar’s profile will be carried over from the original H-1B Request. The dates of the original H-1B Request will not pull over into the new H-1B Extension card.
All fields in the profile are now open for editing. Update any information which may need to be updated for the H-1B Extension. This includes salary information and dates. The new H-1B Extension card can be found in the Pending Records tab of the Scholar Admin dashboard until it has been processed and moved to Active Records.
Note: You may save any information and come back to the Extension process at a later time if needed. If any information has been changed, make sure to click on the Save button located at the bottom of the page for the H-1B Extension Request. The process is identical to when creating an initial H-1B Request.
