Overview
This KB article describes how to select and download individual SEVIS and OPT records in RTI Connect.
Single SEVIS Records
In RTI Connect, you may select and download a single SEVIS record for an individual whose information is not yet in Terra Dotta. This is a useful option if, for example, your campus Admissions office created an I-20 in SEVIS RTI before the student's information was available in your institution's SIS.
To download a single SEVIS record for an individual, go to RTI Connect > Log in to RTI. Log in using your SEVIS credentials, and navigate to the SEVIS record that you wish to download. Click the Download Record button.
The Download in Progress button will display until the download has successfully completed. Note: that both the principal's student information and any linked dependent information records are scraped. If OPT records need to be scraped, those must be done separately from the SEVIS OPT screen. A success message will display. Click Close to be taken to Terra Dotta to review the newly downloaded information.
Single OPT Records
In RTI Connect, you may select and download a single OPT record for an individual. This is a useful option if, for example, an advisor in your office created an OPT record in SEVIS RTI but it does not exist yet in Terra Dotta.
To download a single OPT record for an individual, go to RTI Connect > Log in to RTI. Log in using your SEVIS credentials, and navigate to the SEVIS record whose OPT record you wish to download.
You may locate the relevant record by launching RTI Connect from the student's SEVIS Profile, searching by SEVIS ID in SEVIS RTI, navigating to the Students with Requested, Pending, or Approved Optional Practical Training list in SEVIS.
Click the OPT Request link in the left links of the SEVIS record. Important: downloading the record from this page will result in a download of general SEVIS information, and will NOT capture the OPT information.
After you have accessed the OPT record, click the Download OPT Data button.
The Download in Progress button will display until the download has successfully completed. If the student has multiple OPT records, they will be downloaded together; their Terra Dotta records will reflect the same status as the SEVIS record.
A success message will display. Click Close to be taken to Terra Dotta to review the newly downloaded information.
Quick Guide
Single SEVIS Records
- Navigate to RTI Connect > Log into RTI with your SEVIS credentials
- Select the SEVIS record that your would like to download
- Click Download Record button
- Once downloaded, click Close to move back to Terra Dotta to review the newly downloaded information
Single OPT Records
- Navigate to RTI Connect > Log in to RTI. Log in using your SEVIS credentials
- Select the SEVIS record whose OPT record you wish to download.
- Click the OPT Request link in the left links of the SEVIS record. Important: downloading the record from this page will result in a download of general SEVIS information, and will NOT capture the OPT information.
- After you have accessed the OPT record, click the Download OPT Data button.
- The Download in Progress button will display until the download has successfully completed. If the student has multiple OPT records, they will be downloaded together; their Terra Dotta records will reflect the same status as the SEVIS record.
