Terra Dotta ISSS manages M visa actions parallel to F visas, like SEVIS.
As in SEVIS, when M regulations differ from F regulations, Terra Dotta ISSS handles the variations accordingly:
- Secondary major and minor are not sent to SEVIS. For this reason, secondary major and minor fields are not required in any Add Student activity or SEVIS Profile Page. If they are entered, batch XML will not deliver this information to SEVIS because it would be rejected.
- On-campus funding is not permitted in the Financial Information section of the SEVIS record. For this reason, the batch verification editor will not verify an M-1 record if On-Campus Funding is included in the questionnaire information. Resolve this by editing the Financial Information Questionnaire to remove the value for On-Campus Funding, and re-verify the action.
- Pre-Completion OPT cannot be requested by regulation. For this reason, any M-1 student with an OPT Add batch update will fail verification if submitted as Pre-Completion OPT. To resolve this, edit the OPT Information Questionnaire to identify Post-Completion OPT.
- CPT cannot be requested by regulation. As with On-Campus Funding and Pre-Completion OPT, a CPT batch update will fail verification for an M-1 student. To resolve this, scrub the CPT record, or edit the student to F-1 in the event that the wrong visa type was selected.
- Program extensions have several batch verifications in place.
- The Program End Date cannot exceed three years after program start date by regulation. Extension requests exceeding three years from the original program start date will fail.
- Additionally, the Program End Date will not update after it has been requested since the Program Extension must first be adjudicated by USCIS. The Program End Date must be edited after USCIS approves the extension as part of the Registration process.
