This article outlines the steps to edit an existing Site of Activity for an Exchange Visitor (EV) SEVIS record through the SEVIS batch.
This action must be taken on a SEVIS-Active record. The update in Terra Dotta will use the Academic Objective (J) application and the Site of Activity Information questionnaire to submit the request to SEVIS. Note that when you edit the site of activity information, you will be editing the existing data for an existing site of activity in the previously submitted questionnaire.
There is no postback data from the SEVIS batch download to update the Academic Objective after this action is completed. An A/RO can easily verify that the Site of Activity: Edit action has been successfully SEVIS-processed by reviewing the completed batch updates in the SEVIS Profile.
Step 1: Initiation of Request: Site of Activity: Edit
Exchange Visitor-Initiated
An Exchange Visitor (EV) may initiate the Site of Activity: Edit request. In order to do so, offices will need to create an EV-facing link for the Terra Dotta page, an external webpage, or even an email that the EV can click to access a request in Terra Dotta.
Staff-initiated
Admins may create a Site of Activity: Edit request for an EV record by going to Record Admin > Search > Enter the name of the EV > click on the Academic Objective (J).
Locate the Site of Activity questionnaire in the Academic Objective by selecting questionnaires > Site of Activity Information. It contains the required data fields for the Site of Activity: Edit request.
- Site of Activity Name: Enter the edited name of the Site of Activity
- Primary site of activity: Select Yes or No
- Address Line 1: Enter the edited physical address for the Site of Activity
- Address Line 2: Enter the department or office name for the Site of Activity (optional)
- City: Enter the edited city for the Site of Activity
- State: Enter the edited state for the Site of Activity
- Zip Code: Enter the edited Zip Code for the Site of Activity
- Remarks: Enter relevant Site of Activity remarks
- Site ID: Enter nothing. This field will receive the site ID assigned to it by SEVIS after the batch download. The site ID will ensure that corresponding edits and updates to the existing site or sites of activity are reflected on the correct record.
- New Site of Activity name: This field is to be used when reporting a new Site of Activity on an existing active SEVIS record. Do not use this field for Site of Activity: Edit.
