AlertTraveler® and Study Abroad products enable travelers to make informed travel choices by deploying itinerary-based country intelligence information to study abroad applications. Set the location on the program, create the workflow for the desired locations, and let the system do the rest!
Study abroad students impacted by an event? Let the system automatically notify the appropriate people based on location, risk level, or both. The new AlertTraveler® workflows will email the desired individual or group.

Access and Permissions
Workflows is accessed by navigating to AlertTraveler>Settings>Workflows.
Creating Workflows
Clicking the plus icon to build a new workflow opens the workflow configuration modal. Workflows are built using “if” and “then” statement logic i.e. if ‘x’ action occurs, then ‘y’ action should occur next. On Program Change allows you to deploy Country Intelligence information on a location and/or risk rating level. On Impacted Travelers allows you to determine who should be notified based on the criteria selected in the 'if' statement.
Workflow Type: On Program Change
Step 1 - If
The first step of the workflow is an “if” statement. Clicking the plus icon on the modal opens up a scrolling menu of the conditions you can set as a trigger for the workflow.
The options for On Program Change includes travel location and risk rating (both from your chosen intelligence provider, Security Exchange or RiskLine, and Department of State).
If you do not set an “if” statement on the first step here, the workflow will trigger for every traveler once they're made eligible for AlertTraveler.
After selecting the 'if' statement criteria, you move to step 2 by clicking the ‘2’ icon.
Step 2 - Then deploy
Step 1 is where you determine which travelers should be captured by your workflow. Step 2 is where you choose what you want the selected travelers to see. Step 2 is a “then” statement step. At this time you can only deploy Country Intelligence information, which appears as a Learning Content on applications.
Don’t forget to add a description of your workflow at the top of the page so you’ll remember what this workflow is used for.
Workflow Type: On Impacted Travelers
Step 1 - If
The 'If' statement options for On Impacted Travelers includes travel location, risk rating (both from RiskLine and the Department of State) and alert category.
Step 2 - Then notify
Step 1 is where you determine who you want to target. Step 2 is where you choose who you want to notify. Step 2 is a “then” statement step.
Simple means you can enter a name and email address for the person to be notified when travelers meet the 'if' statement criteria. You can add multiple people using the Simple notification type. Group allows you to select a group to be notified.
