The software's pre-decision applications each have a specific deadline by which they are expected to be completed. This is the application deadline. When this deadline has passed, the application becomes locked and applicants are no longer allowed to complete pre-decision application requirements.
The application deadline can be found in one of three locations:
- Each application cycle (under Process > App Cycles) has a default application deadline that will be the deadline for any application for that app cycle if there is not a program level override.
- The application deadline can be overridden on the program level by going to the "Dates" tab for that program.
- The application deadline can be extended on the applicant level if a specific applicant requires more time to complete the application. This can be done on the 'Status' tab of the application by entering a new date in the box labeled 'Waive Until:.'
If an application is PENDING and this application deadline is in the past, the application will be locked.
If an application is ACCEPTED, COMMITTED, REJECTED, or WAITLISTED and the application deadline is in the past, the deciding factor is the decision date. If the decision date is in the future, the application will be locked. If the decision date has been reached or is in the past, the application is unlocked and, if accepted/committed, the applicant is placed in the post-decision phase. They are provided the post-decision process elements, but they are still able to view/complete any pre-decision process elements that have not yet been completed.
