This feature is considered classic functionality. For information on how to generate a listing of featured programs in Program Discovery, see the FAQ section of the Program Discovery article.
Terra Dotta clients can promote their preferred/recommended programs in a number of ways.
I. Designate preferred programs as 'featured' programs.
Enabling Featured Programs through Settings > System Features will cause a Featured Programs tab to appear on program pages and search pages. In List All, Simple Search, and Advanced Search results, 'featured' programs are marked with a gold star. There are two ways to designate 'featured' programs.
You can move preferred programs to the Featured Programs group:
1. Go to Program > List All;
2. Locate preferred programs;
3. Mark the check box next to each program;
4. Select the Featured Programs group from the "Move marked programs to" drop-down list box.
Alternatively, you can designate an existing program group as 'Featured' without moving the programs to the Featured Programs group. Follow steps 1-3 above; then select the "Featured" check box to the right of the group name.
This option is useful if you want to keep programs in their existing group for administrative purposes, but you want the programs to stand out (to be marked with a gold star) when viewed by students. It is not possible to have a mixture of Featured and non-Featured programs within a single program group.
II. Add a menu item for preferred programs.
1. From the public site, search for your preferred provider programs
2. After the search results page opens, copy the URL onto your clipboard
3. Login to your site
4. From Admin Home, open the Site Builder under Website Admin
5. Select the 'Link Content' tab
6. Select the 'Create New LInk' tab
7. In the 'Link Title' box, enter the title of the new menu item
8. In the 'External link URL' box, paste the URL from your clipboard
9. Select 'Same Window;'
10. Next to 'Add Link as,' choose the location of the item within the menu tree;
11. Click Save.
Note: To make this link accessible from another content page or from a program brochure page, open the WYSIWYG editor for the desired page, select the Insert/Edit Web Link' tool, and enter the URL of the programs search results page.
III. Enable the alternate program listing option and mark recommended programs by setting a program parameter. Recommended programs will always appear in a special section at the top of the program results. For more information about this feature, refer to the article "Implementing alternate listing of program search results" listed under the additional resources tab.
