The "Risk Management" program type is used to register travel in which the applicant is reporting their destination, departure date, and return date at the time they are creating the application. There is no program-level setting for location or dates. Risk Management programs are most commonly used for any program that doesn’t fit into the other program types, such as independent travel registration, side trip registrations, faculty-led program proposals, etc. These programs are often implemented as a OneStep registration page.
Risk Management programs are not usually publicly marketed since they involve registration rather than recruitment and have a number of the public aspects of the functionality disabled. Instead, there is a URL provided on the program builder's "Settings" tab which can be used on a public page of your site as the gateway to the Risk Management program's brochure page.
Risk Management programs do not require locations to be assigned to them - nor do they have start and end dates applied to their program date records. When an applicant is creating an application for these programs, they first select the relevant application cycle they will be traveling in, then they will be asked to select the location(s) from your list of locations or search for the location by city name. Applicants also enter the date of departure and the date of return. Applicants can create more than one leg of their travel in the same application, each leg of which is recorded as a separate itinerary record with start and end dates. These will be stored in the application record and used for the purposes of searches and reporting.
Once the applicant has created the application, these dates can be changed only by an administrator by going to the application administration interface for the application and going to the "Itinerary" tab of the application.
Risk Management programs can also be configured so they do not always start the applicants in the "Pending" status. When creating a Risk Management program, the program can be configured so that new applications in the system are automatically placed into the "Accepted", "Committed", or "Waitlisted" statuses so that the pre-decision phase of the application is bypassed.
Steps to Implement Risk Management Programs:
1) Enable Risk Management Programs by marking this category active in 'Program Admin - Program Types.'2) Click Program Admin - Create New and fill in the relevant information, selecting Risk Management as the Program Type.
3) Input the relevant information on the Dates, Brochure, Terms, and Parameters tabs.
4) Activate the One-Step functionality if desired and configure the form as needed.
5) Create and deploy any needed process elements for your Risk Management program.
6) Create links in your website to point people to the brochure page (the URL is found on the Settings tab in the Program Builder).
7) After checking that all is correct, mark the program 'Active' on the General tab in the program builder.

Example use:
Your office allows students to apply to study abroad programs for third-party provider programs that you do not have in your program listing. In these cases, the students only need to notify your office that they are participating in the program; indicate when they are leaving and returning and the program's destination; and fill out some routine emergency contact information. You could track this on your site by doing the following:
Create a risk management program called 'Independent Study Abroad Program' - mark the terms for which the students traditionally apply for these programs and create program date records for the deadlines by which they need to report their participation in these programs. (This is helpful because most risk management programs require the applicants to be able to apply throughout the entire app cycle rather than be limited by an application deadline.) Also, go to the 'contacts' tab and enter the email address of the staff member who will be responsible for reviewing these applications in the 'New Application Notification List'
Go to Process > Questionnaires and create a Risk Management questionnaire that is specific to this program that includes the question items you use to gather emergency contact information for your standard applicants (making sure to apply it to any existing app cycle process maps after doing so).
Go to the 'Settings' tab of the program builder for the program and get either the URL for the program's brochure page (if you want them to read about the process on the brochure page before applying) or generate the HTML for an 'Apply Now' button. However, in this case, you might call it 'register'.
Create a link on your site's home page to the URL (or insert the HTML for the button) or do this on a content page where you are instructing students that are applying to independent provider study abroad programs to register their intent to study abroad.
This program will then be able to accept applications through that link, and students that apply will be creating their applications for the risk management program and providing your office with the necessary information. These applications won't be included in the standard application queries by default, but they will be included in the Locator Search application searches in case of a location-based emergency.
