Partner Institutions in Terra Dotta software refer to any foreign institution from which you will accept incoming applications. Incoming programs can be configured to allow applications to be started only by students from those partner institutions.
Under Settings -> Partner Institutions you can create the list of partner institutions that will be available for use on your site. This list should include only those foreign institutions from which your university will accept applicants coming to study on your campus.
When creating incoming programs, this list appears and you will be asked to identify which foreign institutions applicants must be from in order to apply to that program.
Adding a New Partner Institution
To add an institution to the list, click the 'New Partner' tab at the top of the page. A new page will appear. Type in the name of the partner institution, and click 'Add.’
Editing the Institution Name
To change the name of a partner institution, click the yellow pencil icon located to the right of the institution's name. This will open up a new page where you can change the contents of this field to the desired name. Click 'Update’ to save your changes.
Deleting the Institution Name
To delete a partner institution from the list, click the red 'X' located to the right of the name. A dialog box appears asking you to confirm the action. Click 'OK' to proceed or 'Cancel' to ignore the action.
NOTE: Deleting an institution will also remove this designation from the profile for any existing student from that institution in your site. If you wish to just deactivate a partner institution in your site so it cannot be selected by future applicants, simply remove that institution as an option from within the program builder's 'Settings' tab.

Assigning a Partner Institution to an Incoming Program
When creating an incoming program, the appropriate partner institutions can be selected from a list that appears when you click the circle in the Program Builder to designate the program as 'Incoming.' If the program already exists and you would like to change the assigned partner institutions, you can do so on the Settings tab of the program builder. The names that appear in this list are pulled directly from the list that is built on the Settings -> Partner Institutions page.
How does the Partner Institution affect the Applicant and Application Process?
After you assign the partner institutions to an Incoming program and make the program active, anyone who tries to apply to that program will have to select their home institution from the list of partner institutions you assigned to that Incoming program. If their home institution is not on the list, they will be deterred from continuing with the application process. If you would like to allow anyone to apply to an incoming program, you can create a partner institution of 'Other' or 'Not Listed' so that the applicant can select that option and continue with the application. Please note that it is possible for an applicant to lie about their home institution and select an option from the list even if they are not really a student there. It is the responsibility of the office to collect a transcript or in some other way verify that the student is in fact from that partner institution.
