Important Note: The ability to upload a file using Question Item > Question Type > Essay is unique to classic functionality in Terra Dotta and is not supported in the Applicant Experience. If your office is preparing to enable this feature, then it is important that you first transition to the supported "file upload" question type. From the application page in Terra Dotta, an applicant has the ability to upload images and documents to their applications through the use of the "file upload" question item type.
To get started, an admin should follow the configuration instructions found under the "Multi-File

If you are an office that is transitioning to the "file upload" question item type before enabling the Applicant Experience, then it is recommended that you select the subtype of "multiple". Though your applicants will still only be able to upload one file to this question item until you enable the Applicant Experience, your question items will be configured in such a way that multiple files will be allowed as soon as you turn on the Application Experience, saving you time later.
When an applicant applies to a program with an application that contains a file upload question item, they can submit a document by using the "drag and drop" or "search and select" option to retrieve a file from their site. After submitting the questionnaire containing the uploaded file, applicant can view the document via hyperlink from the "Completed Requirements" section of their application page.
The admin can view the document from their view of the application in Application Admin Manager by clicking on the questionnaire name followed by the hyperlink of the document in the question item.
