This article outlines the steps to create a new Create Exchange Visitor record for a SEVIS record. Terra Dotta ISSS currently allows you to submit this request in 3 different ways: Batch, Post to RTI, RTI Connect.
This KB will outline how to use the activity for Batch and Post to RTI only. If you wish to create a new Create Exchange Visitor (EV) record in RTI Connect, navigate to RTI > Launch RTI Connect, do not use the Add Exchange Visitor Activity. Note that for EVs with multiple sites of activity, all sites of activity are now scraped from RTI and included in the SEVIS Profile. The primary site of activity is indicated.
- Step 1: Find the SEVIS Admin Activity > Add Exchange Visitor
- Step 2: Select the User Type (Internal or External)
- Step 3: Enter Profile Information (Internal versus External Users)
- Step 4: Complete Academic Objective Information Questionnaire
- Step 5: Complete Financial Funding Questionnaire
- Step 6: Complete Site of Activity Information Questionnaire
- Step 7: Actions to take after the Exchange Visitor is Created
Find the SEVIS Admin Activity - Add Exchange Visitor
- Go to SEVIS Admin > Activities.
- Locate the Exchange Visitors menu.
- Click Add Exchange Visitor.
Select the User Type (Internal or External)
Under the Core EV Information heading, select the user type of J Exchange Visitor:
-
External EV: If the EV does not already exist in your student information system (SIS), they will be considered External. For External users, complete all Core Information fields.
- If the EV already has a profile in Terra Dotta, select Existing External (Non-SIS Integrated) from the dropdown list.
- If the EV does not have a profile in Terra Dotta, select New External (Non-SIS Integrated) from the dropdown list.
-
Internal EV: If the EV already exists in your SIS (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft, etc.), they will be considered Internal. For Internal, enter the EV's UUUID (unique universal user ID, or username).
- If the EV does not have a profile in Terra Dotta, select New Internal (SIS Integrated) from the dropdown list.
- If the EV does have a profile in Terra Dotta, select Existing Internal (SIS Integrated) from the dropdown list.
Enter Profile Information (Internal versus External Users)
For Internal exchange visitors most of the information requested in the Profile Information section will automatically populate with SIS information, so you will not enter data in these fields. To confirm which Profile Information data fields are coming from your student information system into a profile, go to System Settings > User Parameters.
For External exchange visitors, the Profile Information must be manually entered.
