This article outlines the steps to cancel a SEVIS Record in initial status for a F/M student. Note that this action does not have its own dedicated record, but instead uses an existing questionnaire. This is because this action is admin-facing only - students will not cancel their own SEVIS-Initial record.
Step 1: Find Academic Objective Record
- Navigate to Record > Search.
- Enter the name of the student whose SEVIS-Initial status Academic Objective record you would like to cancel in SEVIS.
Step 2: Complete and Review SEVIS-Required Data

Admins should review, edit, or complete the required SEVIS-mapped Question Items in the user's Academic Objective Record:

STATUS UPDATE: CANCEL/TERMINATE (F/M)
A) Program Cancel Reason - Select the reason for the cancellation from the drop-down menu.
B) Program Cancel Remarks - Enter any remarks you wish to be included to SEVIS with the cancel update.
Step 3: Create SEVIS Update Record
