This article outlines the steps to cancel a recommended Off-Campus Employment request via the SEVIS batch.
IMPORTANT: The Off-Campus Employment program is called Off-Campus Employment - Severe Economic Hardship (F/M). Although the name indicates Severe Economic Hardship, all off-campus employment recommendation types are possible using this program.
Step 1: Find Off-Campus Employment Record
- Navigate to Record Admin > Search.
- Enter the name of the student whose Off-Campus Employment record you would like to cancel in SEVIS.
- The student's Off-Campus Employment (F/M) record will display when you search for their name.
Step 2: Review SEVIS-Required Data
One questionnaire handles all data related to Off-Campus Employment (Add, Edit, Cancel) actions. The SEVIS Admin will use data either from question items #1-3 or #5-7, depending on whether or not the student's Off-Campus Employment Request was previously edited.
NOTE: Admins will not enter any information for question items in relation to the Off-Campus Employment: Cancel action. Just review the information to complete this action in SEVIS.
- If the student's Off-Campus Employment recommendation has never been edited, the SEVIS Admin will use the dates and information delineated in Question Items #1-3 when you create an Off-Campus Employment: Cancel update.
- If the student's Off-Campus Employment recommendation was previously edited, the SEVIS Admin will use the dates and information in Question Items #5-7 when you generate an Off-Campus Employment: Cancel update.
2. Employment End Date - date previously entered
3. Type of Employment - type of Off-Campus Employment Authorization displays as already selected
4. Recommendation - not used in this SEVIS action
5. New Employment Start Date - if previously edited, date displays as already selected
6. New Employment End Date - if previously edited, date displays as already selected
7. New Type of Employment - if previously edited, type of Off-Campus Employment Authorization displays as already selected
When all fields are complete, you will create a SEVIS Update Record. For instructions on how to do this, see Creating a SEVIS Update Record. The update action you will select is Off-Campus Employment: Cancel. The record you will choose for this update action is Off-Campus Employment - Severe Economic Hardship (F/M).
