Reporting on active academic objectives is now easier with our new Active Enrolled Students feature, located on the Data Analysis panel of the Report page.
This article outlines the SIS file requirements required to use this tool to its fullest capability as well as new reporting features. When fully engaged, this tool should help ISSS Admin to gather data used to complete the Open Doors report. This tool identifies F-M students and J scholars who were active for any portion of the date range requested. Therefore, if an F-M student's or J scholar's status was terminated in the mid-fall semester, and the date range selected was August 1 to December 31, the terminated F-M student's or J scholar's record will still appear on the report because they were active during part of the date range.
SIS File Requirements
The Active Enrolled Students report is built using information from SIS-mapped parameters. In order to use this report to its fullest capability, we recommend that your SIS file contain the following data (non-customized fields):
- Degree Level
- Visa Type
- Gender
- Marital Status
- Major/Field of Study
- Country of Birth
- Country of Citizenship
Mapping User Parameters
The ISSS admin should insure that the SIS file contains all required data and that the User/Applicant Parameters are mapped correctly.
Analysis
This tool is located in SEVIS Admin > Reports, in the Data Analysis panel.
Once selected, you may select the timeframe during which enrolled F-M students and J scholars are identified:
- within the last thirty days
- within the last twelve months
- within a custom date range.
The default view of this analysis presents visa type and degree level. You can drag and drop demographic tags along both axes to help identify specific characteristics of the population. This type of data analysis is particularly helpful for completing the Open Doors report - for example, identifying specific numbers of female students in Engineering majors.
In the future, this tool be further developed to identify a list of academic objectives meeting the particular criteria - for example, names of the 15 female Electrical Engineering students counted in the aggregate numbers.
To export your chart (without drag/drop options in the grey areas), click Excel Export in the upper right corner of the analysis.
