Overview
This KB article provides a general overview of the Statistical Overview report located under Data Analysis in the Reports tab of the SEVIS Admin.
Obtaining statistical overviews of your advisee population is possible with the Statistical Overview feature, located on the Data Analysis panel of the Report page. For example, your staff is working with the Women’s Resource Center and needs to locate demographic information for STEM majors with female students.
The Statistical Overview combines the Active Academic Objectives tool and the Active OPT Students tool. Create and export demographic reports with the Statistical Overview tool. Note: to obtain the most accurate analysis possible, it is important to scrape and update Terra Dotta records. Academic Objective records should be updated from each respective SEVIS list and Optional Practical Training (OPT) records from the SEVIS Students with Requested, Pending, and Approved OPT list.
The report defaults to today’s snapshot data. You can search by campus or program; searching for school code only returns F results, and search for program number only returns J results. This report is based on Open Doors for particular parameters:
- Basic data
- Visa type
- Gender
- Marital status
- Major/field of study
- Place of origin
Marital status is a user parameter that is mapped coming in from the SIS feed or is a user parameter manually configured for each user under Settings > User Params and then required for the user profile. (This is on the file client as of April 1, but if you are one of our more historic ISSS clients, you will not have them.)
In order to search for past information, Managing Applicant / User Parameters must be turned on for this user parameter. This functionality will be added in the future, with a date search feature displayed.
