Question: Why are actions and adjustments needed?
Answer: When changing intelligence providers, the alert ratings scale will also change. To see these differences, review the table below:
Notifications, threshold settings, subscription settings, and workflows are often dependent on alert levels. When a change to these level types occurs the admin will need to review the settings for these features to ensure the desired alert level is configured.
Comparing Intelligence Providers
In addition to differing Alert Levels, there are other differences between Riskline and Security Exchange.
Below is an example of an alert issued by Riskline:
Riskline has scaled this alert as a medium level, and provides travelers with advice:
Below is an example of a Security Exchange alert:
Security Exchange has rated this alert as a critical level, and does not provide travelers with advice.
Generally, Riskline provides more alerts, more often. Riskline has 5 alert levels, compared to Security Exchange's 3 alert levels.

AlertTraveler® Admin should navigate to AlertTraveler>Settings>Notifications and click the edit pencil next to each Admin's user:
Upon clicking the edit pencil, the admin will be presented with the notification modal:
Within this modal, review the current notification settings, adjusting them as needed. If you make a change, make sure to select "Update Preference" before closing the modal. Take this action for every AlertTraveler® Admin.

Travel Registry + AlertTraveler® Workflows
If your site is a Travel Registry + AlertTraveler® site, navigate to Travel Console> Travel Admin>Workflows and review and, if needed, adjust any workflows that have Risk Rating or Severity as a condition:
Review all workflows with Risk Rating/Severity conditions for the following workflow types:
- On Trip Save (Risk Rating Category)
- On Impacted Travelers (Severity Category)
- On Trip Approval (Risk Rating Category)
- On Trip Create (Risk Rating Category)
- Pre-Departure (Risk Rating Category)
- Prior to Return (Risk Rating Category)
- On Trip Cancel (Risk Rating Category)
Be sure to Save as you make edits to your workflows.
Note: Editing your workflows may not be necessary for workflows that have a Risk Rating condition if the selected risk rating type is only CDC or DOS, (and not Riskline (RL) or Security Exchange (SE)). However, best practice is to review all workflows with the Risk Rating condition for good measure.
Note: Any workflows that were triggered prior to the intelligence provider change will remain applied to the trip in question.
